This neo-classical, 18th-century building on the Thames houses the Embankment Galleries, cafés and restaurants, all surrounding a large courtyard. Admission free; charges for special exhibitions.

To 31 Dec: Bonds. Each of these works was created by a Somerset House artist in residence, who were tasked with exploring humans relationships and what unites us.

To 5 Jan 2020: Mary Sibande: I Came Apart at the Seams. The South African artist expresses her home country's apartheid struggle using photography, textiles and installations.
