Situated in the roof of a Baroque church on the old St Thomas' Hospital site, this room was originally used to store herbs for medicine. In 1822 an operating theatre was added, where surgery without anaesthesia took place in front of audiences. Reached via a narrow spiral staircase, it's now a museum dedicated to Victorian surgery.
Check its website for events and talks, including film nights and surgical demonstrations.
