Antony Gormley exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts
‘Unforgettable art from a man of steel’
Londoner Antony Gormley is being honoured with a major exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts from 21 September until 3 December 2019. The contemporary sculptor uses organic, industrial and elemental materials in his works and is best known for his large, eye-catching sculptures of male figures, such as the vast Angel of the North in northeast England.
For this RA show, Gormley is presenting old and new projects. For The Host, he’s going to flood the floor of a gallery with seawater and clay, to evoke the murky soup from which human life first grew; it all sounds unforgettable.
