Mayor's Letter: February 2018
A big welcome to London this February
This month we'll be celebrating Chinese New Year as we mark the start of the Year of the Dog. With a spectacular parade of lions and dragons, it will be a brilliant showcase of Chinese culture, with live music, the best of Chinese dance and markets to browse. February marks 100 years since some women were given the right to vote in the UK for the first time. Keep an eye out for events which will champion the achievements of women from all walks of life. Our city can rightly claim to be one of the big four fashion capitals of the world, alongside Paris, Milan and New York. This month the capital's best dressed will be out for London Fashion Week, celebrating and showcasing amazing British design.
The Orchids Festival at Kew Gardens is a brilliant way to mark the start of spring. This year's festival is themed around Thailand's vibrant plant life and culture. Meanwhile, if it's world-class sport you're after, rugby's Six Nations Championship gets under way. www.kew.org
Whatever you do, have a wonderful time!
