Wembley Temple: Shri Sanatan Hindu Mandir

Intrepid travellers keen to understand London’s diverse communities should visit Shri Sanatan Hindu Mandir, a Hindu temple in Wembley.

Completed in 2010, the temple’s exterior is yellow Jaisalmer limestone, while pink Bansi Paharpur clads the interior above a floor of Makrana marble. Like Neasden Temple in the northwestern London borough of Brent, Wembley temple, Shri Sanatan Hindu Mandir’s marble was mostly carved in India and it is just as grand as Neasden.

An elaborate arch guides visitors up steps to Shri Sanatan Hindu Mandir, which features 201 pillars and domes decorated with leaves and feathers, as well as legends and events from Hindu scriptures. If you want to embrace the culture and learn more, you can stay to volunteer.
