Mayor’s Letter: April 2018
A big welcome to London this April
This month we celebrate a long overdue milestone as we unveil a statue of suffragist leader Millicent Fawcett. It is the first statue of a woman, created by a woman, to stand in Parliament Square and is a fitting way to mark 100 years since the first women secured the right to vote. As part of our #BehindEveryGreatCity campaign, we mark the achievements of women who make London great. It will also be a theme at this year’s London Games Festival, which will showcase the best of the city’s imagination, game design and innovation with a focus on the women contribut ing to the success of the games industry. We also honour England’s patron saint at the Feast of St George on Trafalgar Square. The best of England will be on offer, with fine foods, live music and family activities. London is world renowned for sport, with the London Marathon taking centre stage this month. Come along and cheer on this year’s runners – the atmosphere is always amazing.
Whatever you do during your stay, have a great time!
