Mayor’s Letter: April 2017
A big welcome to London this April
Spring is off to a speedy start as the capital welcomes the toughest of endurance tests – the London Marathon. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and cheer on the runners around the 26.2-mile course.
London marks a milestone – it’s been 50 years since homosexuality was decriminalised. There will be a variety of events across the capital, including Angels in America, staged at the National Theatre, and an exhibition, Queer British Art 1861-1967, at Tate Britain.
London is the world’s creative, tech and cultural capital and it gives me great pleasure to welcome the 2017 London Games Festival. Home to more than 500 games companies and top talent from around the world, London is at the forefront of cutting-edge innovation.
This month we will celebrate England’s patron saint with the Feast of St George in Trafalgar Square. The very best of England will be on offer, from fine foods to live music. Bring your family and make the most of this holiday!
However you spend your time in our great city – enjoy!
