Mayor’s Letter: June 2017
A big welcome to London this June
June in London is set to be a fantastic month to enjoy sport, food and culture. Our great city is one of the world’s sporting capitals and we’re delighted to welcome Britain’s leading professional women’s cycle race, The Women’s Tour, for the first time. Riders will race through the heart of London for its final leg.
We have thousands of incredible restaurants in the city, from Michelin-starred establishments to local cafés, so I’m proud that we’re hosting London Food Month with 300 events taking place across the capital, making it the UK’s biggest-ever food festival.
Trooping the Colour, the Queen’s birthday parade, promises to be a spectacular showcase of British heritage and iconic pageantry. With musical troops and a fly-past by the Royal Air Force, it will be a treat for visitors who want to get a taste of our traditions and monarchy.
London is famous for its Theatreland, and you’ve picked the right month to visit as West End Live brings a superb array of theatre to Trafalgar Square for free. I hope you enjoy summer in London.
