Mayor’s Letter: December 2019
Welcome to London this December
There is nowhere quite like London at Christmas. As well as the festive lights on Oxford Street, join in the celebrations at St Paul’s Cathedral. It hosts a series of carol concerts and special services, starting with the Advent Procession on 1 December.
Why not take a walk through Christmas in Leicester Square with its market stalls offering festive treats and gifts, and then head to Trafalgar Square to see the giant Christmas tree. You can also celebrate 20 years of ice skating at Somerset House.
Sample the wonderful flavours of the season at Hampton Court Palace‘s Festive Fayre (6-8 Dec) with live cookery demonstrations, and visit the Museum of London Docklands to relive the Frost Fairs (21-22 Dec).
Join locals to watch the Menorah-lighting ceremony to celebrate the Jewish festival of Chanukah in Trafalgar Square (22 Dec).
However you spend your time in London this December, I hope you have a wonderful experience and a merry Christmas.
