Mayor's Letter: December 2017
A big welcome to London this December
You’ve picked a magical time of year to visit our great city. For festive fun, head to Trafalgar Square to see the capital’s most spectacular Christmas tree, a huge Norway spruce given to London by Oslo in a tradition dating back to 1947. Also taking pride of place in the capital is a giant menorah, which lights up the square throughout Chanukah.
If you want to pick up some Christmas gifts, then you will be spoilt for choice. London is a world-leading shopping destination with some of the oldest and best department stores, retail arcades, independent boutiques and street markets. Head to the West End
for some great high-street brands and to see the Oxford Street lights.
To top it all off, we have the world-renowned London New Year’s Eve fireworks, which will once again take place around the Coca-Cola London Eye on the River Thames. For those without a ticket, there are opportunities to welcome 2018 in style at bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs across the capital. Whatever you do during your stay, have a brilliant time!
